We would like to invite you to attend the 12th annual meeting of the USGS Gap Analysis Program, which will be held at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's National Conservation Training Center (NCTC), 75 miles northwest of Washington, D.C., just north of Shepherdstown, West Virginia. Shuttle service will be arranged from Washington-Dulles International Airport.
The NCTC campus is located on 538 scenic acres on the banks of the Potomac River. The architecture evokes local farm buildings and blends with the rolling countryside. Buildings are arranged around outdoor courtyards, linked by paths and porches, with views of the surrounding fields and forests. Five miles of hiking trails take you through eastern hardwood forests and river meadows.
Three lodges on campus provide accommodations in individual guest rooms with a full-size bed and private bath. The meal plan for onsite guests provides full-service breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Meal and lodging package rates are $101/person/day ($84 for BLM/NPS staff; $78 for FWS staff).
Attendees should arrive on July 31. There are no rooms available at NCTC the night of July 30. The meeting officially starts with a Social Mixer and Poster Review at 7:30 pm on July 31. Check-in time at NCTC is 1:00 pm.-9:00 pm. For those arriving early enough, there will be an optional field trip in the afternoon, as well as time to pick up registration packets and set up posters. Dinner is served from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm, but hors d'ouevres will be available for late arrivals.
A Call for Papers and Posters was mailed out in early March
2002; registration forms have been mailed out. You can view
a pdf version of the registration form online.
