Products
This section presents the existing geographic data,
publications, news articles, the GAP home page, and
meetings, symposia, and workshops that have resulted as
GAP products. Not accounted for here is the effect GAP is
having on building institutional relationships around
information. Although the results from the GAP
state-level partnerships are easily of equal value to
more tangible products such as data, the products
resulting from better integrated institutional
relationships are more complex, more difficult to
quantify, and require a great deal of time and effort.
Geographic Data
- Digital spatial data files are the fundamental
GAP material. The following are digital files
that are currently available, listed by state and
the primary point of access.
-
- Arizona:
- These data files are available via anonymous ftp
at <aldo.srnr.arizona.edu>.
- Natural terrestrial land cover
- Vertebrate species distributions
- Land ownership
- Limited synthesis showing biodiversity by
ownership category
-
- Arkansas:
- These data files are available at <http://www.cast.uark.edu/d.cast/new.catalog.html>.
- Natural terrestrial land cover
- Land ownership
- Land management status
The Arkansas Center for Advanced Spatial Technology
offers a remote map generation program using GAP and
other data. Over the Internet, a user can select physical
areas of the state and themes of interest, including, for
example, habitat types, roads, military installations,
state lands, or predicted species distributions. A map is
then generated and provided to the user as a
Postscript file.

- These data files are available at the GAP Home
Page (http://www.gap.uidaho.edu/gap).

compatibility of Oregon and California vegetation
mapping in the intermountain sagebrush
ecoregion.)
